The Comedor La Casita del Quirquincho was founded by four voluntary helpers from Germany during a Volunteer Exchange Programme by the organisation Experiment e.V. in Argentinia. The Organisation Experiment e.V. supports the four founders by constantly placing new voluntary helpers for the Soup Kitchen which, overtime, became the Children and Youth centre for the area. The Lyoness Child & Family Foundation supports this project to make it possible for all the children in the area to have a warm meal every day, and to ensure the survival of this unique facility.
The goal was to prepare a nutritious, tasty meal, followed by a child-friendly, educational and fun afternoon programme with different activities for up to 60 children a day, aged between 2 and 14 years, from the poorest regions at the foothills of the Andes in Northwest Argentina.
The children’s health is improved by a balanced meal. For the children, the Comedor La Casite del Quirquincho will also serve as a refuge to keep them off the streets. The children’s social development is also encouraged by involving them in all decisions, getting them to help prepare the meals, playing autonomously and by helping in organising excursions. In this way, the children learn that with strength of will, ambition and, above all, love, they can achieve great things.
