Thanks to the CFF, 30 wards at the children's home Klasje in Osijek, Croatia, can take part in a six-month sports programme.
Sport and exercise are extremely important to the physical well-being and self-esteem of children and adolescents. But not everyone has the opportunity for physical activities. The charges at the children's home Klasje in Osijek do not have the financial means for recreational sports. A situation that the CFF in collaboration with the association "Centar za kulturu tijela – Figuram“ wishes to improve.
Since January 2018, 30 children can enjoy a versatile six-month sports programme, that has been adapted to meet the needs of the various age groups, thanks to the CFF's involvement. Divided into three groups (pre-school kids, schoolchildren and football groups), the children have the opportunity to train twice a week with Mario
Zelić, a well-known Croatian fitness trainer.
Within the framework of the CFF project, all children received T-shirts and the football group, who is the only team in Croatia to participate in the "World Cup of Children from Care Homes“ in Warsaw, Poland, were also gifted footballs.
The objective of the training sessions is to improve not only the kids' overall fitness levels, but their motor-functional abilities as well. At the heart of the programme is the aim to teach the children the joy of sensible recreational activities, to encourage young talent, to strengthen their self-confidence and to further develop their social skills with the help of sportive interactions. Furthermore, the children also receive helpful tips on how to maintain a healthy diet and strengthen their body awareness.
