Update from the sanatorium school in Busteni in Romania

Last year we were able to implement a wonderful project for up to 100 children together with the sanatorium school in Busteni, Romania.

For the children who are not able to attend a regular school due to health problems, such as respiratory illnesses and disabilities, this school is a very special place during their therapy. In this school they can continue their education and minimize their learning lags despite their health restrictions. In 2013, collaboration between the school and the Lyoness Child & Family Foundation Association was initiated. The welfare of the children was at the centre of this cooperation as well as the goal to create a welcoming and joyful environment in the school building and in its classrooms. As the existing infrastructure of the school was more than outdated and partly severely damaged it was decided to renovate the infrastructure of each classroom. The entire school was equipped with new school desks, chairs, desks, shelves, lockers and other furniture.

Immediately after the opening of the newly equipped classrooms the joy of the children was enormous. “Now, more than a year later, many things have happened,” says principal Cornel Enoae Cosmin. “Since the implementation of the project some significant improvements have been noticed in different areas. First, the general mood and attention of the children during classes have greatly improved. In addition, the lessons have benefited from the professional infrastructure and finally the accident rate of students has dropped to almost zero per cent.”

The outcome of this project makes the school staff and the members of the Lyoness Child & Family Foundation Association more than happy and we are glad that we were able to make an important contribution, which has influenced the lives of many children in a positive way.
