The ‟Nelson Mandela No-Moscow Primary School” has opened its doors!

The time has come: After just 9 months, the building of the ‟Nelson Mandela No-Moscow Primary School” in Qunu, South Africa is completed. The Lyoness Child & Family Foundation and the Lyoness Child & Family Foundation South Africa celebrated the opening of the school on the 15th of March 2013.

The Mandela Family supports the CFF

The school is in the birth town of Nelson Mandela, the famous Nobel Peace Prize Winner and one-time South African President. The previous school building was in desperate need of renovation after being badly damaged during a storm in 2002. Since then, broken windows, broken roof, framework, cracks in the plasterwork and missing furniture and learning materials have impeded every day school life. The Child & Family Foundation therefore made the decision to build a new school.

A modern school for 230 children

Over the last nine months the school has been rebuilt. Now, the school’s 230 students have seven new classrooms, modern bathrooms, a conference room, a library, a kitchen, an arts and crafts room, a playground and new learning materials. 30 Lyoness employees also volunteered to help complete the project by helping with painting, decorating and planting, amongst other things. The CFF is delighted with the successful completion of this project, and that the children will once again have a great learning environment.

Lyoness.TV was also present

The celebrations were of course filmed by Lyoness.TV. You can see them for yourself – in the next Lyoness.TV broadcast on the 26th of March 2013 at www.lyoness.tv!
